Hospital Birth

People who chose to birth in a hospital in Rhode Island have 5 options. Each birthing hospital has different services, amenities and statistics. For many people, the outcome of their birth is influenced more by the birthing facility and care team than their own body and health. Up to 50% of people switch providers for a subsequent pregnancy due to their previous birthing experience. RI Birth has created and maintains this up to date resource below to give expecting parents our community information to make the best decisions for themselves and their family.

Know your options:

  • According to the CDC, Rhode Island’s rate of cesarean births was 33.6% in 2021.

  • Know who your helpers are. Beyond a midwife or doctor, everyone benefits from a doula, education, peers, community and lactation support.
