Family and Community Accountability Board
The Family and Community Accountability board is a third party collaboration with patients, community birth workers and as well as anonymous reporting for care providers. This became a huge need following doula, community health worker, patient and family experiences with institutionalized committees and hospitals, which often invite doulas to be present for community collaboration, only to find that the voices of the community are unwelcomed and/or removed completely.
We provide technical assistance to organizations, institutions and healthcare grantees who wish to partner with the community. We believe that this third party, community owned and run board, is vital to improving the relationship between the community and healthcare institutions - and most importantly further the work of Birth Justice, the safety and dignity of the families we take care of and the people who love them. Updates on this group will be made via our community newsletter.
This has been formed with the partnership of several community & peer based organizations and groups, doulas, families, and Birth Monopoly.
